Recreating the Charm of Nature-Embraced Vehicles:
You’ve likely come across images of vintage vehicles succumbing to the embrace of nature in remote forests, gradually being reclaimed by the environment. Chris Miller, however, was so enamored with the aesthetics of these nature-reclaimed automobiles that he embarked on a unique endeavor—crafting his own versions out of rocks. Launching a Kickstarter campaign in 2012 to garner support, Miller aimed to bring these remarkable stone cars and trucks to life, intending them to serve as a captivating roadside sculpture for his quaint hometown village in Vermont.
Miller drew inspiration from a stone Volkswagen Beetle constructed in a field near Ithaca, New York, in 1976 (featured in the image). This inspiration fueled his Kickstarter campaign, where he successfully raised approximately $3,100 for his rock truck project. A total of 85 stone art enthusiasts contributed to funding this distinctive personal endeavor!
The stone truck project was a labor of love, taking approximately 5 weeks to complete. It was crafted using actual car tires for the base, long stones for the front and rear bumpers, large flat slabs for the windows, and an engraved slab on the rear window featuring all 85 names of the Kickstarter backers who contributed to the project.
